Providing traffic information to the private sector via JARTIC The J Th Japan Road Traffic Information Center (JARTIC) provides various R d T ffi I f ti C t id i types of online information concerning roads and road traffic, including information on congestion and road restrictions, for private firms that wish to use road traffic information for business purposes.

Efforts for study by the private sector regarding services that use traffic information from JARTIC

Future expansion is anticipated in various services by the private sector using mobile phones, VICS, etc.

Summary and future directions
1. Road traffic information to the car navigation systems is p provided in collaboration between the p public and p private sectors. (VICS) Application services by private sector are started using public sector's collected information. Enrichment of private sector's services by original probe information collection, based on the evolution of mobile phones, ICT etc. h ICT, t g public and Further exchange of information between the p private sectors will be important in the future.
