Why Some of Us Love Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War?

We are all aware of the problems of our universe. We are on the verge of self-destruction. Overpopulation is at the root of all our problems. But what are we doing about it? Nothing. We all are so focused on our personal struggles that no one has time to focus on global problems. It is in human nature to look for personal benefits in everything we do and solving the global problem does not involve any immediate benefits which might be the reason we are not that concerned about it.

What if there is someone who is dedicated towards the cause of saving the universe even if it earns him the title of greatest villain of all the times? Sounds like a great guy right? Well, that guy is Thanos.

Avengers: infinity war fans are left with a great dilemma after watching the movie, and it is whether Thanos was right? Yes, most of the Avengers found themselves on Thanos’s side after watching the movie. While Thanos is crowned as greatest villain of MCU, there are some who think if he, in fact, was the hero of the film. Well, you can’t judge them because they love him for all the right reasons.

First of all, Thanos had a solid cause and he was completely committed to it. His confidence about his beliefs clearly reflects that he had given clear thought to the problems of the universe and then reached his conclusion. He thinks that wiping out 50% of the universe’s population because he discovers that overpopulation is behind all the universal issues. He was not looking forward to any personal gains from achieving his goal like any other typical evil guy. He did not have any intent to visit earth or fight Avengers, he was just eliminating anything that stops him from achieving his goal and in this case, it happens to be Avengers.

He is a brilliant strategist with a clear set of values and an exact plan to achieve his goal. This makes him a very strong leader and earns a devoted group of followers (henchmen) who are ready to die for his cause. On the other hand, if you observe, Avengers are as flawed as humans despite their superpowers. They are continuously fighting their personal struggles and have lots of doubts.

In spite of being such a tough guy, Thanos is capable of love. He loves his daughter Gamora more than anything else in the world. His dedication to his cause is proven when he sacrifices Gamora for the sake of greater good. Not everyone has the heart to make such a great sacrifice for something they believe in. Not even any of our Avengers can make such a great personal sacrifice. Only Thanos had the infinite courage needed to do something like that.

It is very rare for a movie to end with villain's victory but it happened in infinity war which proves the power of Thanos. His dialogue “the hardest choices require the strongest wills” clearly shows how tough he was. We have plenty of good heroes but we rarely get a good villain like Thanos which is why MCU fans are more confused than ever. Thanos is a very well portrayed antagonist that makes the audience fall in love with him.

I understand, his methods were not best but his motive was pure. Dedicating your life to a cause and doing anything that takes for that cause is something that only strong people can do. He just wanted to bring back the balance to the universe. Despite facing so many difficulties he succeeded in his cause which again shows the efforts he had put into it. As we know Thanos's death is inevitable. Avengers 4 will most probably end with Thanos dying and avengers bringing back the 50% of the population that was lost when Thanos snapped his fingers. We will definitely be very happy to get Spiderman, Black Panther, Doctor Strange, baby Groot, Gamora, and all other superheroes we lost in infinity war but we are definitely going to miss Thanos!
