Description: The MSMED Act of India 2006, (MSMES) are broadly classified into two categories manufacturing and services. The Act defines Micro-enterprises as those business that have invested a maximum of Rs 10,00,000 in plant and equipment for services and a maximum of Rs 25,00,000 for a production or manufacturing set up. Introduction: Microenterprises is becoming a very popular way to empower a community to create additional employment. The Indian Government has initiated many Skilling programs through Ministries and NSDC. There are many industries that have set up skilling programs through their CSR activities. These initiatives to skill people in various trades and crafts has made available a huge pool of skilled and semi skilled worker, from this pool of trained personal 40%- 60% of the skilled community get employed or self employed. 10-15% drop out of training programs and remaining 20-30 % can be grouped into groups of 10 to maximum 25 people to create a micro enterprise. The Government is created smart cities mission to stop the immigration of population to large cities and to create employment in local clusters. This particular situation has made it ideal for more micro enterprises to come up in small scale manufacturing and services. This new network of Metros, Smart cities and Farming communities has also help create opportunities in rural areas for micro enterprises. There many farming and non-farming micro business which could be natured in rural areas for creating better household incomes and social economic engagement.
