Semi Stock Week: Chipmaking stocks stocks solid as AMD takes lead

Description: Semiconductor stocks cleanly beat the S&P 500. Leading the pack was AMD (AMD) followed by ASM International (ASMI), Rudolf Technologies (RTEC), KLA-Tencor (KLAC), Infineon (IFX) and Kulicke & Soffa (KLIC). Equipment stocks had the second biggest gain among VLSI’s indices, rising 3.5%. Chip stocks gained 2.7%. The S&P500 rose 2.1%, underperforming chip making stocks for the second time this month. Also, Intel beat Starbucks, driving the Chips-to-Coffee ratio up.
