Turning around any company is difficult. Turning around a technology company is a nightmare. It's a challenge Ajit Manocha jumped at almost a year ago to run the world's only truly global foundry. What's made this turnaround so interesting is the transparency that it has been addressed with. They openly dealt with yield issues, instead of blaming customer's designs. They dealt with Dresden essentially being a single product/single process fab. They dealt with Malta being late. In this interview, we discuss how this has been turned around, how they know, and many of the results. For example, GLOBALFOUNDRIES has shipped more than a ½ a million HKMG wafers. I ask Ajit about the status of yield, fab loadings, delivery, first-time-right, what their customers are saying, the financial status and more.
