Peter Drucker said in "The Practice of Management" that the purpose of business is to find and keep customers. That profits are the limiting factor in how to achieve this. Some take this to mean that it is O.K. to lose money in order to attract customers. But this can only happen over the short term. Lose money consistently and soon you’ll have happy customers but lose your business . . .
