Summary: My guest, Daniel Armbrust, President and Chief Executive Officer of SEMATECH, is on the front line of  finding new ways to consistently lower R&D costs in the semiconductor industry. Hundreds of billions of  dollars of revenues are at stake in the quest to shrink chip technology to ever smaller dimensions. Yet relatively small companies that can’t afford the research cost put this opportunity at risk if they can't deliver. In this video, we examine how SEMATECH's quest to control nanodefects in EUV mask blanks and deal with the daunting number of compound variants to test out with photoresists is leading to innovative ways of controlling development costs as they use a consortium approach to dramatically increase R&D productivity.
