Wind energy installations in the United States in 3Q09 amounted to 1,649 megawatts (MW) of new power generating capacity, bringing the total capacity added this year to date to over 5,800 MW. While this was higher than either the 2Q09 or the 3Q08, AWEA wind turbine manufacturing still lagged below 2008 levels, in both production and new announcements. GE Energy held the largest market share, Siemens was second, Mitsubishi third. Chart shows market shares.
