5 Surefire Ways to Attract Attention at a Trade Show

Trade shows and exhibitions play an important role in helping businesses build brand awareness. However, a typical trade show involves hundreds of businesses, with some of them offering similar products and services. There are just so many competitors trying to meet the same people that you’re angling for. So, how can you attract the attention of your target customers away from your rivals? The following surefire steps will help.

Stand out from the crowd with a show-stopping booth

The worst thing you can do in a trade fair is to blend into the background. Other businesses are looking for ways to stand out from the crowd, as should you. There are several ways to make your section highly attractive; for instance, you and your team could come dressed in a manner that would appeal to the demography of your business targets. However, the first and most important thing is to make sure you have a visually appealing booth. Colors, themes, and design are extremely important if you want to attract customers. There should be nothing dull about a booth in a trade fair; if your company’s exhibition stand is as drab as a college security post, you’ll need to change it. One option is to call in a skilled exhibition stands designer, who will create an ‘in your face’ style exhibition stand for you.

When planning for your next trade fair stint, don’t make it business as usual, but think of it as showbiz.

Have the coolest promotional materials

Because the human brain processes and retains visual content more than regular text, stockpiling your booth with standard text handouts and tracts will mean that your exhibition is more or less dead on arrival. A stunning display is crucial if you want to attract people to your stand, but having amazing promotional materials is also important if you want to keep them interested in what you have to offer. If more than one company is bidding for the attention of the same people, the one with the more eye-catching materials will stand a much better chance.

Your promotional materials should contain full color, high graphic content. If possible, have a TV display inside or outside your booth. Make it possible for prospective customers to see what you offer in comprehensive detail; even if they don’t make any purchases there and then, they’re less likely to forget or throw away such a beautifully designed brochure.

Dress the part

How you dress will do much more to attract people to your stand than you might think. After all, they won’t hear what you have to say until they meet you in person; therefore, dressing sharply is one way to connect. Look for a way to craft what you and your team members wear around the products and services you offer. Whatever you decide, make the attire features something that represents your company, such as a logo or a lanyard card. One piece of advice though: avoid scantily dressed models, unless you specifically need them for your business niche (for example, if you sell lingerie). Of course, this will grab attention, but in such a crowded environment, it may attract the wrong kind of attention.

Keep freebies to hand

Freebies are one of the quickest and most effective ways to connect with customers. In fact, customers are more likely to show interest in what you have if they feel they’ll get something free in return. You don’t really need to spend lots of money because even a customized paper cup of coffee will suffice. Alternatively, you can give out discount vouchers that could encourage future purchases.

If you can afford to, offer samples and trials of your products; this way, people can find out for themselves if it’s worth parting with their money.

Do a mock run

Trade shows can be so overwhelming that if you’re not careful, you won’t know what to say or how to answer questions about your products and services. A simple way to prevent this from happening is by doing a mock run before the exhibition. Spend some time researching the competition and also make sure you have enough information about your potential customers at your fingertips.

However, even though you’ve planned your dialogue and activities for the show, don’t hesitate to work outside of the script if the situation demands.
