Bowling game is also known as ten-pin. The bowling rules are a bit different in different countries. There are many types of bowling but ten-pin is very popular amongst all forms. Bowling game is widely played in most of the countries.

Bowling History

It was first originated in Egypt by A British anthropologist named Sir Flinders Petrie was the founder of this game. He discovered a bowling game in the 1930s. Sir Flinders Petrie found a primitive set up in the child’s grave.

This game is usually played in an air-conditioned bowling center. According to bowling rules, bowling game requires hardwood lane which measures 60 feet long and 42 inches wide. The length of the lane is measured from the foul line to the head pin. Tenpins is placed at the end of a lane. In the beginning, you are very cautious about the pins and how a ball will hit the pins.

Ten-pin bowling requires a bowling ball which has 16-pound and 8-5 inch diameter. The bowling ball is made from urethane and rubber. There are three drilled holes in the bowling ball. It also requires non-slip grip cream, grip sacks. There are maintenance tools of bowling ball such as hand and wrist grip supports, towel and gloves.

According to bowling rules, the primary aim is to roll down all ten pins. Each team has a minimum of 4 players and a maximum of 7 players. You can bowl with 1 female and 2 male to avoid fines. The game consists of ten frames, in each frame; the bowlers are allowed to throw the ball twice to knock down all the pins. When a bowler gets success in rolling down all the pins is called a strike. When the bowler knocks down the other remaining pins in a second attempt is called a spare. If a bowl strikes in the tenth frame, the bowler gets 2 more extra balls. Even if you fail to strike, you will be given one more ball. There is an open frame in case the bowler is unable to roll down all the pins during each frame.

The more pins you roll down, the more points you get. The bowler is awarded one point for each pin in the event of bowling an open frame. If there is a spare, the extra pins are added in the next frame. And if there is a strike, the player gets two more balls to strike. If the player throws a spare, there is a ‘/’ sign in the right hand-square. And the same way, if there is a strike the scoring-sheet shows an ‘x’ mark and the bowler will get 10 bonus points for rolling down all the pins. Bumpers are not allowed in this game.

According to the bowling rules, the players must put on bowling shoes to play this game. The players should wear bowling shoes in all present, they cannot wear shoes outside. Always throw the ball using your own lane. Never use others lane. Don’t bowl when other players on any lane.

A foul is given to the player when a player steps over the foul line. Although he knocks down the pins, No points are awarded to the player in such condition. The players, who are physically not fit, are allowed to use ramp bowling.

Dressing: As per the bowling rules, Athletes must put on dressing which is suitable for the game. They should wear a team t-shirt and pants. Jeans are allowed during the bowling.
