Immediate-release tablets can be taken several times a day as need for the pain. Extended-release tablets are taken to treat round-the-clock pain and should be taken once a day.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved this medication in the month of March 1995.

Uses of Tramadol

Tramadol is used for the treatment of moderate to moderately severe chronic pain.

It is more effective at treating moderate pain than severe pain. Its effectiveness at treating moderate pain is similar to that of morphine. On the other hand, it is less effective than morphine at treating severe physical pain.

Some also use it as a part of the whole treatment.
