Monopoly Card Game

Growing up, we all have played the game of monopoly, haven’t we? It was a board game which was always there at every kid, especially the ones born in the 90s. It was indeed a pleasure playing this absolutely amazing business game with all our friends and sometimes family. However, with coming years, the popularity of board games in general went down, majorly due the big size and difficulty in carrying from place to place. Hence, they came up with a different kind of monopoly game. The monopoly card game! If you want to learn how to play the monopoly card game, or simply want to learn monopoly rules, this is your one-stop shop.

Monopoly Card Game Rules

Officially, this game is called the Monopoly Deal game. However, it is commonly referred to as simply the monopoly card game. Firstly, you need to know the basic objective of the game, which is to complete 3 full property sets. You’ll get to know how many cards you need to complete a set of that color through every property card you have. For example, the brown set only needs 2 brown property cards which is to be completed whereas the black railroad set needs 4 railroad property sets to be termed as a completed set.

Basically, according to the monopoly rules, you can use cards only on these three occasions, during a turn. Firstly, one can use money cards or action cards (like hotel, house, force deal, rent etc.). Secondly, one can play property cards face up in front of the other players in their property section. Lastly, one can play the action card in the middle discard pile.

Monopoly rules state that a deal of 5 cards is to be given to all the players before the game begins. After that, one can pick up 2 cards from the remaining pile before the commencement of each turn. A limit of three cards per turn is set, though if you want you can play less than that as well. The play is considered to be open or ongoing when any card is the table for example money in the bank, property cards on the table etc.

How to Play Monopoly Game?

Make sure that seven of the cards are in your hand after the end of each turn of yours. If one does end up with more than the allowed seven cards, he or she has to let go of the extra cards by discarding them in the discard pile which is to be kept in the middle, always. Also, make sure you play the game in the clockwise direction, which is specified in monopoly rules. In fact, all card games are to be played in the clockwise direction unless it is specified by the rules of the card game.

Now, these are the basic and general rules of this monopoly card game. It is easy if you have played the board game, but can still get some getting used to. Normally, it shouldn’t be tough even if you haven’t played the board game, so just relax.
