Spit game is not a turn-based card game, both players can get rid of their cards at the same time. This game is all about speed hence playing faster is the key to winning. Spit card game rules are pretty simple to memorize and follow.

Spit Card Game Setup

Take a regular 52 cards deck shuffle and divide them equally between 2 players. Each player creates 5 stacks with the top card of each pile face up. The first stack has 1 card, the second has 2 cards, the third stack has 3 cards, the fourth stack has 4 cards, and the fifth has 5 cards. Remaining 11 cards form a deck and are kept in the right side of the stacks.

Spit Card Gameplay

The game starts with both players taking top cards from their deck and keeping them in the middle of the table facing up, next to each other. Now, we get two spit piles on the table. Both players need to put maximum cards possible as fast as they can on top of spit piles. Take note that piles do not belong to a specific player; both players can put their cards on both piles.

Spit Card Game Rules

  • The card you put on a spit pile must be one lower or one higher than the top card on the pile. For example, if you have 3 on the top of the spit pile, you can put 2 or 4.
  • You can put face-up card from one of your stacks on the spit pile if it is one lower or one higher than the card present on the top of the spit pile.
  • Once you play the top card of your deck, flip the card below so that it is turned face up.
  • When you find that face up cards from 2 of your stacks have the same rank, you can combine these cards, put them in one stack and flip the next card in another stack. It provides you with an opportunity to open more of your cards.
  • When one of your stacks go empty, take the top card from one of the stacks, keep it in the empty stack and flip the top card of that stack up. It helps you open up more cards and get rid of them quicker.
  • To play as fast as you can is crucial to winning spit card game online. Open up as many cards as you can as fast as possible to get rid of them.
  • If the spit game is stuck at some point when it is not possible to play any of the exposed stack cards to any of the spit piles then players shout “spit”, turn up their next spit card and put it on the top of the spit pile they have started. The spit game continues in the usual way after this.
  • A new layout is proposed according to spit card game rules in either of the following cases: if one player gets rid of all of the stack cards, or the play is stuck because both players are out of the spit cards and still left with cards in their stacks. In either of these cases, both players select a spit pile by slapping it with their hand. Both players generally try to get the pile that is smaller which might result in both players selecting the same pile but the player who slapped that first is the one to get it and the other player will take the other pile. Each player will add whatever spit cards or stack cards left with them to the spit pile they have taken and shuffle their cards well and create 5 new stacks like before. Both players shout “spit” and continue the play.
  • The play continues till one of the players get spit pile so small that it is not possible to make 5 full stacks and won’t have any deck. The player will make as many stacks as he can and as the player doesn’t have any deck, there will be only one spit pile between two players. The game continues and if the player without deck gets rid of his cards first, he wins the spit card game.

The spit card game is a very popular card game that is played online as well as offline by people of every age group. It is pretty fun to play and is often played at family gatherings, small parties and on weekends. Follow the spit game rules and be very fast to win the spit game.

Have a good time!
