Staring at the Qutb Minar

Qutb Minar was built in the 13th century in Delhi. This 73m tall, tapered minaret takes a base with diameter 14.3m and diameter of 2.7m at upper, and irregular bony and rounded flutings. Qutb Minar, is the biggest tower in the world which is built of bricks.

Red Fort

Red Fort is a historical building located in the midpoint of the city. It served as the main residence of the emperors of the Mughal family. The Red Fort was constructed by one of the most eminent Mughal emperors, Shah Jahan. Known for its vast rotating walls of red stonework, it is one-on-one to an elder fort known as the Salimgarh which was constructed by Islam Shah Suri in 1546.

With so plentiful past and heritage associated with it, the Red Fort is one of the most eye-catching memorials in India and a major travel destination in Delhi. It earned a place in the UNESCO world heritage in 2007. The designer of the Red Fort was Ustad Ahmad Lahauri, who designed the Taj Mahal also.

The Red Fort houses numerous constructions inside its perimeter. The most familiar amongst all those are the Diwan-i-Aam, Diwan-i-Khaas, Moti Masjid and Nahr-i-Bashisht. Most of these structures were decorated with valuable stones and beautiful flowery patterns. The fortress was also overstated with valuable materials and jewels. It is said that the Kohinoor diamond remained here and added to the beauty of the fortress.

India Gate is situated at the entrance of New Delhi. India Gate, which is officially known as Delhi Memorial, is a war honoring dedicated to honor the soldiers of the Indian Army who died during World War I. Sir Edwin Lutyens designed this great structure.

The building material is mostly lined with red and yellow brickworks sourced from Bharatpur. On the roof above the arch is a wide shallow curved bowl that was meant to be filled with blazing oil on traditional occasions. No fires have been usual on the roof in recent years, but four eternal blazes are now safe at the base of the structure.
