 Steven A. Davis MD
  25th-Jul-2016
Description: Medical Board Adopts Controversial Stem Cell Rules- Texas Medical Board guidelines allow for stem cell procedures if: they are done for research and receive approval from an institutional review board. Critics: say evidence of success of such stem cell injections is anecdotal, advocate waiting for clinical trial results before allowing physicians to charge patients. HB 177 (Zedler) Stem Cells Authorizes use of adult stems cells in FDA approved clinical trials and for use in hospital procedures under certain criteria. Creates the Texas Adult Stem Cell Coordinating Board to administer the state's adult stem cell research program and develop guidelines for providing grants and loans for specific research projects.
