 AMPS Adikari
Description: The drug supply management of District General Hospital Gampaha was studied in respect to 16 essential Non-communicable disease drugs, published by the Ministry of Health. The drug estimation process is affected by irregular drugs and therapeutic committee meetings. Drug storage has several problems due to lack of space and lack of staff. A number of air conditioned stores also inadequate. There is lack of pharmacist for the drug store due to the recent expansion of clinical services and allocating the pharmacist cadre to other clinical needs. The weak link with Medical Supplies Division (MSD) has to be rectified using wireless technology. A cadre revision to increase the number of pharmacist and dispensers in the hospital to meet the increasing service demand. These initiatives must be started from the hospital and communicated to the Regional Director of Health Services and Provincial Director of Health Services up to Deputy Director General (Planning).
