Description: Myocardial infarction (heart attack) is the leading cause of death in the United States. It is estimated that one in every five deaths in the US is due to a heart attack. Approximately one million patients are admitted to hospitals each year due to heart attacks. 200,000 to 300,000 individuals die from heart attacks before ever receiving medical care.
