Description: Commentators may someday view 2009 as the end of an initial thirty years war over stem cell research in the United States. For evidence they will point first to the September 1980 decision by the Secretary of U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) to refrain from spending federal funds on the study of human embryology, and second to the March 9, 2009 Executive Order from the President of the United States to do the opposite.
