SEMICONDUCTOR ANALYTICS: Chip sales end the year with a strong December. Tablets & PCs key driver.

Sales of ICs for Personal Tools (PC, Tablets, Mobile Phones, etc.) were up over 30% over November. PC related IC sales were very healthy in spite of prediction that laptops were being killed by Tablets. That said, Tablet IC sales jumped. IT infrastructure ICs nailed down a healthly growth, with the bulk of the strength coming in Server ICs. The driver was Electronics, which hit a new peak in Dec. Tablets soared and PCs followed. Chip sales and design activity was another positive note.
